Outpatient Treatment Methods for Co-occurring Disorders

Co-occurring disorders, also known as dual diagnosis, refers to the presence of both a substance use disorder and a mental health disorder occurring simultaneously in an individual. Some examples of co-occurring disorders include depression and alcoholism, anxiety disorder and opioid addiction, bipolar disorder and cocaine abuse, among others.

We offer outpatient therapy services tailored to address the needs of individuals with co-occurring disorders, including group therapy, family therapy, and more. We will treat both aspects of the co-occurring disorders simultaneously to ensure they are effectively treated.

Building Personal and Community Resources for Relapse Prevention

Relapse prevention is a key part of treating substance abuse disorders for both in-patient and outpatient treatments. We help our patients access personal resources and coping strategies to prevent relapse while also providing resources to community support groups and other services.

Trauma-Informed Treatment

Many of the individuals we work with have experienced trauma in their lives. A trauma-informed approach to our work ensures that we respect the trauma someone has been through while providing an empowering environment in which to grow and heal from that trauma.

We encourage patients to take control of their recovery journeys by working collaboratively, respecting your autonomy, and honoring your choices every step of the way. Our clients are active participants in their treatment plans while we provide the knowledge, resources, and coping tools they need to make positive changes in their lives.

Healing from substance abuse is a complex and deeply personal journey, and the 2nd Chance Promise Program strives to provide trauma-sensitive care that honors everyone’s unique experiences and needs.
